SMART INDIA CONFERENCE

On June 26th, 2015, a conference on SMART INDIA - Smart Solutions for Smart Cities was jointly organized by Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion Centre (APTDC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), at Hotel Novotel, Visakhapatnam.  This important meet focusing on developing Vizag as a smart city was attended by fifteen MBA students from the institute and the following faculty members - Prof. P.Sheela, Vice Principal, Prof. B.S.P.Narayana, Dr. K.Manjusree Naidu, Dr. D.Vijaya Geetha, Mrs. . K.V.Uma Devi, Mr. Leben Johnson, Dr. B.Nalini, Mr. T.Venkateswarlu, Dr. K.V.Sandhya Vani and Dr. I.Srinivasulu.

Mr. J. Nivas, Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam, gave an overview of the smart city mission initiated by Government of India to provide better services to the citizens. Mr. Sundar Raju, MD, Atria Convergence Technologies Pvt. Ltd., defined smart city as the one where services are provided across the socio-economic circle. In technical perspective, it is a city which is totally digitized whereas in a health perspective, it is city with healthy environment. Mr. Abhilash Puzhakara, Deputy Head of Mission in Hyderabad and Head of Trade and Investment, British Deputy High Commission, Hyderabad, said a smart city is the one which serves every citizen irrespective of their caste, religion or gender and should simplify even the most complex service. An eminent panel of speakers from the industry shared their ideas on how to develop Vizag as a smart city in four sessions – Vision for India, Strategies for developing Smart Cities in India,Smart City Visions from Around the World and Smart Solutions.
