FROM-THE-EDITOR
Warm Greetings and hearty welcome to the first issue
of this E-newsletter of GITAM Institute of Management! Our bi-monthly
newsletter is named YUVAAN, meaning “youthful and full of life” in the Sanskrit
language. We feel this is an apt name since our newsletter is driven by the
talents, energy and noble intentions of our young students, the young leaders,
the future of this great nation. We are
indebted to Prof. K. Siva Rama Krishna, our Honourable Dean and Principal, for
igniting this idea and for his constant guidance, unconditional support and
precious trust in entrusting a young team with this newsletter initiative. We
also thank our beloved Vice-Principal Prof. P.Sheela for her precious
encouragement and help.
July - August 2015 were the months of re-opening and
new, exciting beginnings! Even as the
juniors became seniors, we had a vibrant batch of newcomers embarking on their
new academic journey with great enthusiasm and bright dreams for the future.
College re-opened on 26th June and GITAM Institute of Management
with a fresh intake of 420 students was the first Institute in the University
to achieve cent percent admissions in the current academic year. We
congratulate Mr.K.P.C. Kishan, Chairperson, Admissions and his team, not to
forget our very dedicated faculty and successful alumni! While the enthusiastic
response for the well-established BBA and MBA programmes continued, great
interest was seen towards the innovative B.Com Hons with ACCA and BBA Hons with
CIMA programmes. GIM also launched two new programmes which received remarkable
response from the public - BBA (Business Analytics) and B.A. Social Science
(focusing on Civil Services), both highly relevant to the changing dynamics of
industry and society.
We invite you to go through the news and events and
the articles and glimpses of creativity put together by our students and
faculty. It is my pleasure to sincerely thank the University authorities, the
management, the members of the Editorial team, honourable faculty and support
staff and above all, our beloved students, for their generous contributions
which have made YUVAAN possible. May YUVAAN become a platform for the exchange
of ideas, for drawing inspiration from achievements and a medium for students
and teachers to work for the greater common good!
- Rositta
