Orientation-Training-Program-on-Soft-Skills-for-Employees-of-Naval-Dockyard-Visakhapatnam
An organisation is a place where humans
work effectively and efficiently to achieve organisational goals. Since Soft
Skills are essential to the success of any organisation, the faculty of GITAM
Institute of Management organised a four day workshop on Soft Skills for the
new recruits of Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. The program held from 28th
to 31st October, 2015 for nearly 200 employees, invited a very good
response. It was co-ordinated by Dr. YVSSS Vara Prasad, Associate Professor, Department
of Human Resource Management.
Prof. S. Apparao delivered a
presentation on PROFESSIONALISM AND DISCIPLINE drawing on his rich experience
of over three decades in top administrative and HR positions in public sector
industries. EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, LISTENING AND BODY LANGUAGE plays a
crucial role for the employee to do his/her work effectively. This concept was
handled by Dr. K.V. Sandhya Vani by giving live working experiences as
examples. KNOW YOUR PERSONALITY (PSYCHOMETRIC TEST) module was ably handled by
Dr. B. Nalini, enabling the employees to know their own aptitudes, strengths
and weaknesses. Prof. BSP Nararyana
spoke comprehensively on the very important concepts of WORK LIFE BALANCE,
DEPENDABILILTY AND MANAGING CONFLICT AT WORK PLACE, so
as to help employees to cope better with work place pressures. Dr.T.V.V.Phani
Kumar gave valuable suggestions on how to attain economic security in personal
life through his session on MANAGING PERSONAL FINANCE. Dr. N. Jhansi Rani,
dealt with theory and practice of yoga and use of simple yoga and meditations
techniques to reduce work related stress in the session on STRESS MANAGEMENT
AND YOGA. Fun and learning activities in
teams were also conducted for the employees with the aim of training them in TEAM
BUILDING AND TEAM WORK. This interesting session which saw lot of enthusiastic
participation and healthy competition among teams was conducted by Dr. Shaikh
Shamshuddin and Dr. YVSSS Varaprasad.
