IDEA_TO_ENTERPRISE

Our budding entrepreneurs benefitted immensely from the guest lecture for MBA First year students on the topic “ Idea to Enterprise”, delivered by Mr. Sai Prasad Devineni, Vice President, SEW Infrastructure Limited, Hyderabad on the 22^nd of December, 2016.

ENHANCING_MIND_POWER

A really inspiring lecture on increasing mind power was delivered by Brahma Kumar Brother E V Girish, Trainer and Counsellor,Mumbai . GIM students were enlightened about various techniques for positive thinking, stress reduction, improving memory and concentration in this lecture on 23rd December 2016.

CONTRACT_LABOUR_ACT

On 23rd December 2016, Mr. Lakshminarasaih, Assistant Labour Commissioner,Visakhapatnam addressed the students of MBA I Year on the topic “Contract Labour Act' and other practices of the Joint Labour Commissioner Office. Students received very valuable and practical information about labour laws and current labour issues.

DISCOVER_THE_SPIRIT_WITHIN

Brahma Kumari Sister Madhuri delivered a lecture titled “Discover the Spirit within” for the MBA first year students. This refreshing and stimulating talk on the 27^th December 2016 was part of GITAM University’s initiative to enlighten students about their inner potential, self-awareness techniques and positive intra and inter personal relationships.

MDP_ON_“EMOTIONAL_INTELLIGENCE_FOR_ORGANISATIONAL_DEVELOPMENT”

Prof. K. Ashok, Head, Department of HRM, GITAM Institute of Management, organised a one day Management Development Program for the executives working in HSBC, Visakhapatnam, on “Emotional Intelligence for Organisational Effectiveness.” The program was held on 13^th July 2016, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at HSBC Hexagon House, Visakhaptanam. As Daniel Goleman (1998) puts it ,” Emotional Intelligence is the capacity for recognising our own feelings and those of others, motivating ourselves and for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships”. This program succeeded in highlighting the importance of Emotional Intelligence in Organisational Perspective.

LECTURE_ON_GOAL_SETTING

Sri V V Sanyasi Rao delivered a lecture on “Goal setting” for the first year MBA students on 9^th July 2016. Mr Rao has been a very active member in Students unions, Youth Congress and OCC. In the seminar Mr. Rao emphasised on how important it is to set goals for motivating oneself and planning one’s future. He also motivated the students to be winners with quotes such as “Winners never cheat: even in difficult times.”

GUEST_LECTURE_FOR_PGDRIM_STUDENTS

Sri K. Devdas, Associate Vice President, Birla Sunlife Insurance,Visakhapatnam, delivered a guest lecture for MBA students doing their Post Graduate Diploma in Risk and Insurance Management on 2^nd July, 2016. The topic of the lecture was “Retirement Plans”.

GUEST_LECTURES_FOR_FINAL_YEARS

Sri Edward Vinod Telstra noted corporate professional and administrator from Australia delivered two highly beneficial guest lectures on “Managing Distribution Channel through Personal Selling” and “Consumer Behaviour: Managing Cross Cultural Marketing Issues” for the MBA final year students on 21^st and 23^rd June, 2016.

INDUCTION_AND_ORIENTATION_FOR_MBA_FRESHERS

On the 16^th of June, 2016, an Induction and Orientation session was organized for the MBA freshers at Mother Teresa auditorium, GITAM University. The session comprised of lectures by Prof.P.Sheela, Principal, GIM, Mr. Leben Johnson, Programme Coordinator, MBA and other faculty members. This was followed by an interactive session with a number of interesting items such as quizzes and fun games.

PERSONAL_EMPOWERMENT

A session on Personal empowerment was organized by GITAM Women empowerment cell of GITAM University on 4th March, 2016 in Ambedkar seminar hall, GITAM Institute of Technology. This session was organized for all the female faculty members of GITAM University. The chief speaker of the session was Prof. V. Balamohandas, Former Vice-Chancellor, Acharya Nagarjuna University.

Prof.P.Sheela, Chairperson, GITAM Women empowerment cell and Vice-Principal, GITAM Institute of Management gave the welcome address. Prof. V. Balamohandas shared his experiences of life. He also highlighted the traits necessary for personality empowerment. He explained many remarkable personality traits of women with inspiring quotes and examples.

Dr. Kasim Beebi, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Institute of Technology, GITAM University proposed vote of thanks. The session was hosted by Prathyusha Reddy and Sruthi Yandra, MBA Students, GITAM Institute of Management. A large number of female faculty members of GITAM University were present in the seminar.

SESSION_ON_PRANIC_HEALING

Pranic Healing experts Ms. Swarnamala and Ms. Ramani organized sessions on Pranic Healing for faculty and students on 4th and 5th March, 2016. Ms. Swarnamala, an academician with over two decades of experience as a global therapist and healer, enlightened the audience about the art of Pranic Healing which focuses on channeling positive universal energies into the body, mind and soul and getting rid of all negative energy which is the root cause of disease. She initiated students and faculty into basic Pranic Healing techniques and spoke of the benefits of the therapy and how it helps in curing various physical ailments and mental disorders and in enhancing concentration and performance in studies and career.
