A workshop on civic leadership was organized by the
Centre for Research in Public Policy, GITAM Institute of Management, on 29th
July, 2015. A lecture on community
service and leadership was delivered by Dr. Manohari Velamati, a renowned
academician, veteran social activist and former program co-ordinator of Dr.
Jayaprakash Narayan’s Surajya Movement for Youth Empowerment and Good
Governance. She spoke in a highly inspirational manner about how both teachers
and youngsters can actively and meaningfully participate in the building of the
community. Prof. P. Sheela, Vice-Principal, GITAM Institute of Management,
presided over the function. Dr.B. Nalini, Co-ordinator, Centre for Research in
Public Policy also spoke on the occasion. Student members and faculty
