educational institutions and Governments worldwide. A seminar on Cambridge
English Exams and IELTS was organized in GITAM Institute of Management on 29th
January, 2016. The chief speakers for this seminar were Ms Vijayalakshmi
Thiyagarajan –Head- Examination services- South India, Mr. Karthik
Rajasekaran-Senior Manager Business Development (IELTS), Ms Jayashree
Natarajan-Manager Business Development (IELTS) and Mr. Gokula Krishnan.S - Manager
Business Development (Cambridge English Exams).
Ms.
Jayashree Natarajan gave a vibrant presentation on IELTS. IELTS (International
English Language Testing System) is jointly managed by British Council, IDP:
IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment. She made the session
very interactive. She said that IELTS is accepted by the finest colleges and
universities in the USA. IELTS scores are considered as proof of English
language proficiency by over 3000 higher education institutions and programs,
including the top 25 Universities and all Ivy League colleges in the USA. She
also highlighted the benefits of taking IELTS with the British Council.
Mr. Gokula Krishnan S. gave a presentation on
Cambridge English Exams. He said Cambridge English: BEC is a high quality
international English language exam which is developed by Cambridge English
Language Assessment- a not-for-profit department of the University of
Cambridge. He also said that the exam is designed to be fair to people of all
nationalities and linguistic backgrounds and is supported by dedicated research
programme. He also spoke about the levels of the exam and said the certificates
are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
– the internationally agreed standard for describing language ability. He
clearly brought out the advantages of taking the BEC exam which not only helps
to perfect L,S,R,W skills in the corporate world but also gains the respect of
the best MNCs the world over.
All the MBA First year students were present for this
seminar and also participated in the gathering by interacting with the
delegates.
