The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the State Government of Andhra Pradesh presented the 22nd edition of the Partnership Summit from 10 - 12 January 2016 at APIIC Ground, Harbour Park, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister for Commerce and Industry, was the Chair of the Summit and the State Government of Andhra Pradesh was the ‘Partner State’ for this edition of the prestigious initiative.

The Partnership Summit, which started in 1995, to mark the centenary of CII, has since become one of the most important international business events in the country. It aims to further partnerships and build ideologies based on shared dreams that bind societies together in this knowledge driven world. The Summit has established itself as an ideal ground for business networking and sharing of ideas to debate and deliberate, where corporates seek a collective view beyond bottom lines. The Partnership Summit regularly features Heads of States and Governments, Ministers, policy makers, CEOs, academicians and thought leaders from all over the world. The Summit traditionally sees over 1200 delegates with almost 40% attending from several countries including USA, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, Canada, France, Australia, South Africa, Italy, Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and UAE amongst others.

The highlights of the CII Partnership Summit 2016 were:
  1. Platform to showcase investment promotion policies and programmes in Andhra Pradesh.
  2. Building new partnerships and exploring national and international investment through high level networking and structured B2B Meetings.
  3. Unique platform providing a great opportunity to interact with Policy makers, investors, industry leaders and associations.

We students of GIM had an opportunity to meet top businessmen. We were inspired by their holistic thinking and leadership. We also learnt many management techniques from the organisers of the meeting. We got a chance to interact with fellow managers from other business schools which encouraged both competition and togetherness among us. Working with them was very exciting and enabled to greatly increase our flexibility to work in any environment with any person in the future.

Many businesspersons such as Mr. Anil Ambani, Mr. Murali Divis, Mr. Naushabh Forbes, Mr. Aadi Godrej, Mr. Y C Deveshwar, Mr. Satish Reddy, Mr. Krishna Reddy, Mr. Pratap Reddy, Mr. Mallikarjuna Rao, Mr. Amitabh Kanth were present. Many political leaders such as Union Minister Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and others attended the meeting. I felt very excited and inspired seeing them on the stage and listening to them on the podium.
