EXPERIENCES_OF_GEM-2015
I am proud to say that I was a part
of the finance department. I was the CFO for GEM-2015. I wouldn’t say it was an
one man army, undoubtedly it was a team effort. I learnt to coordinate with
everyone and work as a team. Well, it was not an easy task to hold many people
and work with proper coordination.
I was tensed whether I would be able
to make proper use of the authority given. I was afraid that I should not break
the trust which the management had in me. I was fortunate to have a real time
experience. The GEM was organized and implemented in the same manner as an MNC
structure.
I learnt that “everything is good
during board room decisions but when it comes to reality it needs a logical
end”. I read in many books about leadership and management skills. But, GITAM
Institute of Management provided me a platform to put those theoretical studies
into practicality. I learnt that it is difficult to do so. But not impossible.
We were given innovative strategies
and we covered the corporate world at large. We covered nearly 100 plus
companies. I had personal interactions with the corporate world and keen observations. In this way I actually
discovered my true interest and my abilities. I have learnt many things. It was
a great event to cherish, a great experience to learn, gave many memories to
remember and strategies to carry forward. Well, it was great experience being a
part of GEM!
